exam diaries chapter three: visible progress
i feel good? i'm really not sure. here's a quick update.
- i have one really sweet tutor who agreed to mark a set of papers for three subjects. i say agreed, she suggested it actually. AND I GOT AN 8 IN CHEMISTRY! i still need to finish/send of the other two. but honestly, i can't believe i got an 8. (one below the top grade, around a low A* if you didn't know.) seriously, i thought i was failing completely but this is a much better place to be in!
- she also gave me advice on how to revise my weak areas only- and how to identify them.
- (i picked to have someone else instead of her after 3 years because i thought a different tutor would be interesting. the other physics tutor i got? a total bitch. refused to even have a call with me that was more than 5 minutes, without 'an additional cost'. wish i just kept my other tutor now, but too late i guess)
- physics, i really need to work on memorising the formula. i would be in a much better place if i did.
- maths, improving. i hope i can climb grades. getting a teacher to mark my paper so i can see exactly where i'm at.
- i made a stumble with sourcing past papers for me to do. turns out i only have half the papers available that i previously thought i could do. long story.
- i had a call with my friend who is marking my literature papers and she went through quite a bit with me. hopeful that i can improve.
so to sum up, i'm not trapped in a deep pit anymore. there has been some clear progress, and i am feeling quite optimistic. however, a month is a month. there is only so much i can do. and i need to keep pushing so that i can get where i need to be. today itself was really messy, i saw a new friend and i talked to her, and then didn't get a lot done. but i WILL finish everything that i wanted to.
(ps: if you're wondering why i actually do these, i really have no idea myself. i just like the idea of getting to look back at my thoughts leading up to exams later on? and it's great for me to reflect on what i'm doing too, to see where i'm going. and i thought it would be nice to share it out to everyone else so you can see my progress and unfiltered thoughts (i don't even re-read them) as i go along. if that is something that interests you!)
